Con man caught by civilians |
|||||
A story published in the Thursday STAR showed that the popular saying 'you can run but you cannot hide' is indeed true. The story spoke of a notorious con man who had been hiding from the police for months, only to be caught by a group of civilians and handed over. This story shows that even though we may not be immediately punished for our wrongs, justice will be served in the long run. We hope a story like this will serve to deter persons from entering the world of fraud or trickery as it shows that, especially in these tough times, persons are more determined than ever to reclaim anything that was illegally taken from them. We must wonder, though, how the police found it so difficult to apprehend a man who was so easily taken in by five unarmed civilians, except for the fact that they were all trained in martial arts. This raises some interesting questions but those would have to be dealt with in a separate article. The police have promised that the so-called con man will be taken before the court soon, and we certainly hope that something will come from this appearance in court. A man with such a trail of convictions should be taught a lesson, and a hard one at that. We will be watching to see what comes out of this case. |
