Smirnoff Summer Sunset
Smirnoff Summer Sunset - Contributed
This week 'In the Mix' features a new mix, Smirnoff Summer Sunset, with STAR columnist and managing director of the Bars to Go Group of Companies, Patrice McHugh.
The other day, a friend and I sat talking and she suddenly exclaimed, "No man, if I sweat anymore I'm gonna have to walk with a bath towel, a mobile A/C unit and shave my head!"
We laughed and somehow the conversation took a turn down 'watermelon road'. We laughed about when we were kids and how much joy one bite out of a watermelon would give us. So refreshing, we thought. We sat wishing we could get one bite ... one taste ... one drink. It's obvious!
My friend and I don't think there's anything more refreshing than a great bite of watermelon. But what if you don't want to just eat it? I worked out a plan for that too! Trust me, I have thought out every way to combat this heat and instead of feeling like it's high noon, have it feel like a mellow ('melony')
Smirnoff Summer Sunset:
2 oz Smirnoff 21
4 chunks melon
1 oz ginger syrup
1/2 oz lime juice
First, muddle (crush) melon chunks with syrup in a mixing glass, then add Smirnoff vodka and lime juice. After that, shake with ice, strain, then serve in a chilled martini glass.
Don't forget to garnish with a melon slice! You'll enjoy eating it afterwards.
Until next week friends! Email me at Inthemixcolumn@gmail.com.
