Man who allegedly threatened witness remanded

A man who reportedly threatened a Crown witness in a gun related matter was remanded until October 20 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Allegations are that Kareem Allen called the witness between September 24 and 25, trying to intimidate that person into not testifying.

The court was told that the accused man told the witness "yuh mus memba yuh have yuh madda, yuh bredda and yuh sista and anyhow yuh go court yuh a go dead."

A report was made to the police and Allen was arrested and charged. His lawyer, however, said the police went through his client's phone and nothing incriminating was found. He said the complainant's number was not even in his client's phone.

service provider's records

The court said when the matter returns, information from the telecommunications provider will be available. The lawyer, however, argued that even if the service provider's document reflect that a call was made from his client's phone to the witness', it comes down to a matter of credibility regarding what may have been said.
