The decline of our men in society

Dear Pastor,

Marriage is the bond God gives to two of His children to become one in unison. Most people when they engage in this beautiful union fail to realise there is a reality to the maintenance of marriage. There is love, communication and the respect that grows within this ambience. Finance plays an important role for both parties. To be able to enjoy the splendour of life one must be able to finance it to the best of his/her ability. Most marriages not only fail because of infidelity but because of financial problems.

I am married to a very beautiful, vivacious and intelligent woman. In my role as head of the home, I have to ensure things meet the particular criteria for the joy of being married to this woman. I have to continually be ambitious, assertive and perseverant of keeping my union on track with love but, importantly also, financially! It goes hand in hand and I am confident that with God's continual intervention within my marriage and the principles in which I abide by in my ambition, my family shall always eat bread.

I have always been taught that the man is the head of the home where he provides for his family and is the head priest to communicate with God. With the rapid decline of ambitious men in our society and the disease of laziness embodying these men, where nothing matters to them but themselves, who really, in this time, is the head of the home?

What values are there for some of our young men who don't believe in the value of women and the basic nurturing habits of family life? In this modern time, are we to see the decline of our men in society go to waste like a rotting body eaten by worms? Truly, who is really the head of the home?

Head of the home, United States.

Dear Head of the home,

I am glad to hear you are happily married. I hope it will remain like that for a very long time. Those who do not value family life do not understand that the breakdown in society is as a result of the breakdown in the family structure.

Family is important and people who do not grow up in stable families do not do well in society. Many join gangs because they crave recognition. They never had a father figure in the home or a loving mother to give them guidance, so they turn to guns, drugs, destroy themselves and end up in prison.

Do your very best to teach men and women everywhere to respect themselves, their parents, their peers and, indeed, all in authority. May God bless you.
