Bless you this flu season

News from the Health Ministry recently revealed that cases of the highly contagious Hand, Food and Mouth Disease were detected at a Corporate Area preparatory school.

This news comes as we move into another flu season, still trying to battle the infamous H1N1 virus. By all indications, this promises to be a very busy flu season and although it is something that may not have been given great attention before, the authorities and citizens should go the extra mile this season.

Many believe that this steady stream of diseases is a direct result of the coming of Christ, which they believe is soon, and will quote the Bible to support their views. The world is staring in the face of a world-wide pandemic and, with the flu season just officially beginning in Europe and other parts of the world, things could get uglier.

This, therefore, should serve to encourage everyone to practise good hygiene and place emphasis on sanitation of their environment. One simple sneeze can lead to the infection of several so it is important all the necessary and possible steps be taken to minimise the spread of germs.

Parents must instil these values in their children and ensure they understand how important it is to keep themselves safe and germ-free.
