Triple line-up for champion trainer

CHAMPION trainer Wayne DaCosta has a triple line-up on tomorrow's nine racecard - the two-year-old filly EXCELLENCE in the seventh event at 1400 metres in addition to MR SKILL at 1100 metres in the eighth and American-bred filly SKITTLE QUEEN in the ninth at 1000 metres round.

EXCELLENCE, a half-sister to GOOD COMPANY, made a promising debut at 1100 metres two and a half weeks ago, finishing a length behind an American-bred, ALL ABOUT THE CASH, who won in a decent 1:06.4.

That was a tough ask for a two-year-old filly and with tomorrow's race confined to native breds, EXCELLENCE should prove too good for her 11 rivals as she continues to impress in the mornings at exercise.

Omar Walker returns off a one-day ban to partner EXCELLENCE and should add to his 14-win lead over Paul Francis in the jockeys' standings.

Speedy MR SKILL gets a feather to tote in the eighth at 1100 metres, 49.0 kilos after apprentice Robert Halledeeen's bug claim, and should go all the way from a bullet start.

Quickest in the line-up, MR SKILL should have rivals, including stalemates THE GUARDIAN and LITTLE WASP, off their legs into the lane from where he should skip away under a hand ride.

On his last outing MR SKILL was caught in the stretch run at 1200 metres when trying to break free of ALSAFRA. Carrying 53.0 kilos in splits of 22.3 and 46.0 took toll in a tough race won by WORKING IMAGE collaring ALSAFRA close home.

However, he was more resolute carrying 57.0 kilos in his previous race at 1100 metres, an easier open allowance of similar quality to tomorrow's event.

beaten

In that race MR SKILL had THE GUARDIAN a little over two lengths behind when beaten a length by BLUE MAGIC.

With MR SKILL carrying only 49.0 kilos, it should be over before they know what hit them.

DaCosta should close his three-timer in style with SKITTLE QUEEN who is reporting off a near four-month lay-up for the Track Price Plus Dig-Out Handicap at 1000 metres round.

The three-year-old American-bred has been drilled at exercise, twice clocking sub 1:01.0 times for five furlongs round, the last being a flat 1:00.2 last Friday.

She comes in at 50.0 kilos due to apprentice Doushane Gordon's claim and will be too powerful for rivals including stablemate DIABOLICAL KID who was overpowered by local breds VONALMIGHTY and TOP COMMANDER at 1000 metres straight on October 7.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 players should add GUIDING LIGHT, MR WICKER and NEPTUNE to DaCosta's triple for a shot at big bucks.

GUIDING LIGHT should prove too good for the three-year-old MOCHACHOCOLATTE in the first at 1820 metres. The filly won well on last at the distance but steps up in class from $350,000 claiming to $500,000 where seven-year-old GUIDING LIGHT rules over a distance of ground, recording three wins from four starts this year among top-level claimers.

MR WICKER should pace rivals to death in the fifth at 1400 metres, facing an ordinary bunch of conditional $180,000 claimers with the blinkers removed to get the distance.

NEPTUNE's near miss, a nose, to JUNGLE QUEEN two Saturdays ago makes him a banker in the sixth at 1820 metres.

NEPTUNE was forced to chase GHOST RAPPER into the lane but should enjoy an easier pace this time around, leaving him enough gas in the tank to stave off ALLORA and ESQUIRE.
