Women beware |
|||||
Once again, female commuters are being put on the alert. The lead story in the TuesdayStar revealed that a Montego Bay taximan was reportedly preying on female travellers. In the case mentioned, the driver tricked the victim by telling her that he was going to pick up another passenger. He, however, veered onto a lonely road and then raped her. A warning has been sounded for women to be extremely vigilant when taking public transportation, especially if they are travelling alone. We hope this man is caught soon and that others, who may have similar intentions like his, are also caught and dealt with. For too long, women have been victimised by predators pretending to be lawful providers of transportation. It is time to put a stop to these intrusive and violent attacks and the authorities, especially the police, need to take these matters more seriously. It should not be hard for the police to conduct undercover operations and catch these taxi operators who, from all indications, have no respect for their mother, or any woman. The police should set up special operations to catch these predators. |
