PASTOR STALKS WOMAN? |
|||||
|
A 45-year-old St Catherine woman says she is "scared to death" because she is being stalked by her landlord who happens to be a pastor. According to Angelica, her source of fear and discomfort comes after she thwarted the pastor's alleged efforts to start a relationship with her. "I know it's because he didn't get his heart's desire so he's acting that way," Angelica told THE WEEKEND STAR. The pastor rented a Eltham, St Catherine house to her in May of this year. Since then it is alleged that he has began stalking his tenant, going as far as shining a flashlight through her window one night. Efforts to speak to the pastor were unsuccessful. The problem began about two months after Angelica rented the house. She said she began realising her landlord was trying to become way too 'friendly'. "He started to call my phone regularly even when the rent was not due, telling me how I look nice...," said Angelica, noting the calls became so frequent and eventually annoying she had to ignore them. When that medium of contacting Angelica became unsuccessful, the pastor is said to have resorted to text messaging. THE WEEKEND STAR was told that the pastor eventually made his intentions clear, expressing that he wanted to have a relationship. Angelica however declared she was not interested. "I told him I live alone because I'm separated but I still hold my dignity," Angelica claimed. Such a declaration was seemingly not enough for the pastor, as days later Angelica claims she was amazed when he showed up at her workplace claiming he had come to collect the rent although other arrangements were made for him to do so. When his advances were ignored yet again, Angelica claims she was slapped with a notice. It is alleged that the pastor would also turn up at the house at various hours of the night, forcing Angelica to call 119 on at least two occasions when she was awoken by strange sounds in her yard. "One night last month while in my deep sleep I got up and noticed that someone was trying to force open my window and was trying to shine a flashlight inside my room...I was so frightened," Angelica said. On both occasions when she contacted the police, however, the pastor left before they arrived. Angelica says she did not give a formal statement to the police but instead took her concerns to the Rent Board which contacted the landlord. The outcome of that conversation was not related to THE WEEKEND STAR when a source from the Rent Board was contacted. The source, however, confirmed they did receive a report. The source also said the complainant was urged to make a formal report to the police. "She visited us last Monday and we contacted the landlord and they are trying to come to some agreement where rent is concerned ...We told her she should make a formal report to the police," the source said. Name changed to protect identity. |
