Portmore's Bridgeport High were eliminated 3-2 by nemesis Jamaica College (JC) in the semi-finals of the ISSA/ Pepsi/Digicel Walker Cup knockout (KO) at the Constant Spring sports complex on Wednesday. JC's leading striker, Ashani Walker, netted in the 32nd minute, while Nicholas Scott (63rd) and Necas Collins (79th) also scored. Jamiel Hardware (51st) and Adoah Nickle (83rd) netted for Bridgeport. This made it eight years since Bridgeport have been to a KO final. The last time they did, in 2001, they beat Norman Manley 2-1 to cop their only KO crown. Waterford crashed out in the quarter-final stage of the Walker Cup on Saturday, losing on penalties to Norman Manley. Waterford wasted a 2-0 lead and allowed Norman Manley to draw level at 2-2 and finished the job on penalties. The two Portmore sides will now turn their attention to the Manning Cup second round which begins on Tuesday. |
