Totally unconscionable

There are no words in the English dictionary, nor in any other, that could possibly come close to doing justice in describing the attitude of the crooks that robbed an all-age school in St Ann last week. None.

Information published in THE STAR on Monday was that the men not only went to the school canteen and robbed it clean of milk, bulla, chicken and rice, but had the nerve to fry chicken and 'stuffed' their face and bellies before leaving. Can you believe that?

Crooks robbing an institution and being so comfortable and unconscionable that they reserve time during the act to fry some chicken and eat? Those activities clearly must have taken more than 30 minutes.

As the logic would follow, the theft did indeed leave the students out of food the following day, but this was not something that the thieves had not anticipate. After all, as stupid as they may have been, they must have had a pea-sized brain that would tell them that if they took the food, then the students would be in need of food as it was no longer there. It is that simple.

However, the problem is those thieves do not give two cents whether anyone other than themselves have food. It's a little thing called being selfish, a condition that many of us 'good' Jamaicans suffer from. When you have an overlap where selfish people are fused with criminally minded people, the result reads out like the story did.

How sad!
