Final eight wow judges

The eight remaining choirs in Television Jamaica's All Together Sing did their best to wow the judges with their renditions of contemporary songs.

Two schools Manchester High and Holy Childhood High came to the end of their journey in the competition and were sent home.

First to perform for the returning judges Dennis Rushton and Lileth Sewell, and guest judge Cherine Anderson, was the choir from DeCarteret College. The choir sang Destiny's Child Stand up for Love and received good feedback for its smooth vocals and mellow sound. Rushton said he "thoroughly enjoyed" the performance while Anderson thought the lead singers were hot and the choir members had gorgeous voices.

Ocho Rios High attempted to dazzle with a performance of a medley of Michael Jackson songs. Their attempt, except for the entertaining performance of the lead singer, was not very successful. The choir did not have a cohesive sound and in parts, the lyrics were barely audible. Sewell said the performance was a "bit disjointed", especially during the transitions between songs.

Black River High School's rendition of The Commodores' Night Shift, was a commendable one. The lead singers were effective and the choir seemed to be enjoying the performance. Anderson said the lead singers were good, but felt the choir was more into the performance than they were sometimes. Sewell said the choir had good harmonies.

The all-girls choir from St Hilda's, performed Michael Jackson's I want you Back, but it was not the best performance from them. It took far too long to getting the actual song as the introduction dragged on for too long. The dancing, however, was entertaining. Sewell said the soloist had a very good range and was very impressive.

captured the mood

Bog Walk High's rendition of Shaggy's Save a Life, was very good. The performers captured the mood and message of the song well and the lead singers were very impressive. Rushton said the lead singers were very good and the choir " took a good approach".

The choir from Hydel High School was perhaps one of the least impressive this week. Their rendition of R Kelly's I believe I can Fly, left much to be desired and was too much like the recorded version. Sewell said she loved the sound at the beginning of the performance, but said the male voices needed to be more convincing. Rushton said the choir was "doing just enough to get by, you need to sing properly. You are going to need more energy if you want to pass St.George's College and Vauxhall."

Rushton's comments were on target as the choir from St George's College was lively and entertaining. Their performance of Akon's Freedom, was convincing and both the lead singer and the choir were good. Sewell said the choir "had the right sound for the song" and the arrangement was interesting.

Past champions Vauxhall High, showed their class with an impressive version of Beyonce's If I were a Boy. The choir made use of its male voices and the arrangement was very creative and intriguing. The lead females were very impressive. Anderson said she loved the arrangement and loved how they twisted the words". She said the competition was a battle between St George's College and Vauxhall.
