Slain businessman's firearm recovered

The licensed firearm of slain businessman Noel Sangsters, who was killed at his farm at Camp Road, Hopewell, Hanover on October 18, was recovered by police yesterday.

Sangsters' weapon was stolen when he was murdered, but recovered after a shoot-out with gunmen at North Street, Montego Bay.

Police say about 2 a.m., a team on patrol along the Hopewell main road signalled the driver of a white Toyota Corolla motor car with some men aboard to stop. The driver refused and sped away with the lawmen in pursuit.

The team was joined by other police units. The chase continued on to Camp Road where the driver lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a utility pole. The men alighted and opened fire at the police before escaping. During a search of the car, the Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine with eleven 9mm cartridges was found.
