Find-a-Lawyer service launched |

Yaneek Page smiles as she speaks at the launch. - Contributed The recent launch of the 'Find-a-Lawyer' service was informative in more ways than one, and according to managing director of Future Services International Limited (FSIL), Yaneek Page, her company is excited about the service which was made available to the public on Monday. "Future Services International Limited will launch a timely, innovative, and consumer driven product - the 'Find-a-Lawyer' service, aimed at assisting Jamaicans in locating the attorney that best meets their needs. There are so many persons who need the services of a lawyer, but more often than not, they are unable to source one without difficulty. This service is there to alleviate that stress with one click of a button," said Page, while speaking at the launch, which took place at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston. Page and those at FSIL, which is Jamaica's first Legal Funding and Litigant Support Company, said they were certain that the service was one, which individuals, especially those in the lower and middle income brackets, will appreciate. complimentary offers Page also said, "Our 'Find-a-Lawyer' service will entail a number of complementary offers, like providing our clients with a list of qualified attorneys who meet their specified criteria, and may be willing and available to act on their behalf; provide executive profiles of the said attorneys, including legal experience, practice areas, client testimonials, fee schedules, and contact information; schedule legal consultations and provide detailed directions to the attorney's office, and the particulars of the receptionist or legal assistant who will greet them upon arrival and; provide information upon request regarding disciplinary action taken against any attorney by the General Legal Council, once such information has been made available to the public. And, these matters are usually varied and span most areas of law, including conveyance, family, contract, criminal, and tort among others." Page also said the service will be beneficial to attorneys seeking to widen their client pool: "By being listed in our search, it makes it easier for clients to get a feel of the attorney and what they have to offer. It's the attorney's chance to 'sell themselves' to the prospective clients, so to speak." In closing, she noted the importance of the free service to those living outside of the corporate area, saying, "These are the people who sometimes need the most help with finding a lawyer and that is what we intend to do; and this service will definitely facilitate them in their search."
