Two shot dead in Seaforth, St Thomas

Investigators from the St Thomas police division believe the two men shot dead at Packer Lane in Seaforth, St Thomas yesterday were not the intended targets.

Two teenage girls, aged 13 and 16, who were also at the house at the time of the incident, were injured in the deadly attack.

"Information we are getting through intelligence suggests that the men who were killed were not the real targets. That person was not present...It's a sad case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time," a police source told THE STAR.

The men, Raphael Barkley, 41 and 25-year-old Michael Wallace, are both of Black Smith Lane in the parish.

Reports are that about 12:15 a.m., the four were at the house when gunmen invaded the premises and opened fire hitting them several times. Wallace died on the spot. The others were taken to hospital where Barkley died while undergoing treatment and the teenagers were admitted in serious condition.

The police theorise that a gang feud could be at the centre of the attack but say investigations are continuing.
