Andrew Nelson, 43, of Mount Pellier district, Yallahs, St Thomas, was shot dead by gunmen on the Portmore toll road on Friday night, and a policewoman who was with him was robbed of her firearm and handbag.

Police say about 8:20 p.m., Nelson and the woman were driving his Dodge Ram motor truck on the toll road when he stopped near the wharf, exited the vehicle and was approached by four men who shot him.

They robbed the policewoman of her service pistol, 26 9mm rounds and personal items including her handbag, before forcing the injured man back into the vehicle. The woman ran but escaped injury when one of the gunmen fired at her. Nelson's body was eventually found slumped in the front seat of the abandoned vehicle at Twickenham Close, Kingston 11.
