Success in D-Major

D-Major is in a good place these days. His songs are playing on the radio, his recording career is on the rise, and he is writing even more songs.

Things are definitely looking up. "At this point, I am really satisfied," he says. "People have started to take D-Major seriously."

Tall, charismatic and handsome, D-Major is tugging at the heart-strings of a growing female audience with songs like Wife Material that was produced by Factor, and Real Friends, tracks, he says, that will soon have accompanying videos. Plus, there is other work in the pipeline. "We are about to do a video for Wife Material after the Real Friends video is complete," he reveals. "We also have a Big Yard song called Formula, so everything is in overdrive right now for D-Major."

The singer, who about four years ago was a member of the now disbanded quintet QT, has also been writing and voicing several other songs, so the future is looking pretty bright. It wasn't so bright when he first left the group to venture out on his own. It took him a year just to get adjusted to being on his own.

"I had to get used to writing songs on my own, being on stage singing a whole song by myself. All these things were foreign to me," he said.

It wasn't long after, while doing his first song as D-Major that a friend, Ice Man, helped bring him into the Big Yaard family. It is a family that has become even better since the studio brought in its 'in-house' producer Richie Loops. "The chemistry is really there," he said of his working relationship with the producer, who was brought in as part of the new dispensation at the studio where D-Major has such stars as Shaggy, Chris Martin and upcoming acts like D-Lynx as label mates.

"I am seeing results; we have songs out there that are getting played. We have this new energy at Big Yard now, Captain Robert (Livingston) is pulling out all the stops to make sure that we get out there," he says. "We have our in-house producer, we're doing our own songs, couple videos. So in the next couple months, D-Major should be a household name."

Also, helping his cause are the KLAS school tours, which he says have been very revealing for him as it relates to how well he is known in the record buying public; that and the recognition from his peers.

"To hear the kids singing my songs (was special). Last year I had a song Can't Get Enough that earned me a nomination at the EME Awards, those little things are a good sign for me," he says. "So I am just keeping it real and keeping my shoulder to the wheel."
