Star Tell Me Pastor

Relationship of lies and deceptions

Dear Pastor,

Greetings in the name of our soon coming King. I am a 25-year-old mother of one son and I have some problems. I was living alone until I moved in with this 29-year-old man, who treated me well for the first three months. Then things started to change.

At first he told me his child's mother and himself are not together anymore. But after some time, I discovered that was a lie. He said I am the only one he loves. The other woman and her mother started to say "I tied him". I don't believe in superstition, and I know whatever God gave to me is good enough to keep a man.

throw him out

This woman and her mother call me every day, trying to make me throw him out. I did not know he was no better than they are. Once he left his daughter at my house, and when he returned he asked me if I gave the child anything to eat. I told him I gave her cornflakes. He paused, and said I should not have given her anything to eat because her mother says she does not want anybody to do her child any harm, knowing the type of person I am.

I got upset and told him that, what I don't like for my child, I wouldn't do to someone else's child, and that the child should stay with her mother. One night I heard him on the phone telling the child's mother he wants his child to live with him.

Right now he is unemployed and he is trying to borrow money from me to give to the same woman who told him that I am evil. I refused to give him.

Am I a bad person for refusing to give him money?

N.U., St Elizabeth, Jamaica

Dear N.U.,

This relationship does not have a solid foundation. It is built on lies and deception and will soon crumble. This man is not intelligent. Even if his child's mother told him she doesn't want you to give her child anything to eat, he should not have said that to you. How can he expect you not to be annoyed by what he told you she said? A wise man would have kept his mouth shut.

This man is not a good man, and you should leave him before he gets you pregnant. Of course, I am not saying you are a fool but anything can happen when a man and a woman are cohabitating. If you are wise, you shouldn't even accept a marriage proposal from this man. To do so would give the impression that fools get good women and live off them.

As soon as you can move out of this man's house, you should do so. Keep your money in the bank or in a credit union. You are going to need all of it to purchase a home. Don't continue to allow this man to fool you.
