LAUGHING GUNMEN FONDLE WOMEN - Masked men assault victims after robbery

The police are searching for a group of giggling masked men who after failed attempts to rob women, fondled them and ran away laughing.

At least eight women in two St Catherine communities have been harassed in separate incidents, involving the masked men.

THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt that all the cases, which occurred during the last two weeks, took place at nights. The police have theorised that a group of teens are carrying out the acts.

Inspector Clive Watson of the Area Five police said the victims, five of whom are from Davis district and the others from Jericho, were touched on their private parts.

The latest of the victims, a 23-year-old Jericho woman, said she was on her way home from work about 9 p.m. Tuesday, when the ordeal occurred.

On reaching a section of the community she said, a group of about five men emerged from bushes and surrounded her.

"Di man dem jus jump out pon mi, mi neva frighten so yet," she said before continuing, "One a dem did have a gun and a him do di talking ... . Him seh mi fi gi him mi money but mi really and truly neva have nuh money pon mi ... ."

The woman said she was searched and when it was discovered she had no cash ... "the same one wid di gun jus start feel me up, mi couldn't even run 'cause dem surround mi ... . Next thing mi know a seh the res' a dem start touch me up to. Mi bottom, mi breast, everywhere and then dem just run off and a laugh."

In one of the other incidents, a 27-year-old woman from Davis district, was walking through her community on Sunday when she was attacked. The masked men took her cellphone but still fondled her before also running away laughing.

THE WEEKEND STAR learnt that in both communities, the areas where the incidents took place lacked proper lighting.

"The places have some really dark areas and this is where the incidents happened, so the culprits really used this to their advantage," Inspector Watson said.

The Area Five police are investigating the cases.
