14-y-o fights off cops, arrested

A Trelawny youngster is in police custody after a scene in Falmouth that has left many residents questioning if the 14-year-old is just plain mad or a rare devil child.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that sometime after 4 p.m. yesterday, the youngster was picked up by police and brought to the Falmouth Police Station. This was not without incident, however, as the girl hurled several kicks, blows and bites at the police party that apprehended her.

"She all tell one of the policewoman dem dat she waan kick her inna her (private)," one resident who contacted THE WEEKEND STAR said. "It was a scene. She cuss some bad words and thump dem. A bare fight she fight dem off."

The Falmouth police confirmed picking up the teen after approaching a group of students seen loitering at a nearby river.

"The rest of the students ran when they saw the police but she didn't," a policeman said. "She cursed at the police and fought, kicking and punching. She even bit the female officer." The policewoman has since received medical treatment.

Police said the teen's tirade and slews of expletives continued when she was brought to the station. She faces charges of assaulting a police officer, using abusive language and disorderly conduct.

The teen and her father were being interviewed at the station up to press time yesterday.
