Recently selected national invitee Kevin Mighty of Clarendon outfit Humble Lions believes that he is slowly getting back to his best following an injury that sidelined the player up to four weeks.

Mighty was forced to do surgery on his right hand after breaking the limb against Boys' Town earlier this season.

"I have been out of the team for about a month because of surgery to a broken hand," Mighty told Star Sports.

"Because of my absence, the team has suffered. This is the first game I'm playing 90 minutes. My coach, Christopher Bender, has been playing me for one half, since I have recovered from the surgery."

Mighty, a skilful striker, has scored only once, and is looking forward to getting on the scoresheet soon. In fact, the strikers could very well be needed to take his team out of the regulation zone, which they share with bottom-place club, August Town.

"The main goal for this team is to stay in the league," Mighty said.

"However, my personal goal is to get a recall to the national team. I have been working very hard to get back there," he added. The player explained that his elevation to the national programme also serves as a major motivation for his teammates.

"My teammates are motivated because they also want to make that transition to the national team," Mighty said.

The forward, now 28, previously played for Arnett Gardens, Rivoli and Seba and got his first senior national call-up in September of this year.

"I got a call to the team but my hand broke during the Boys' Town game in the first round, and that kind of hampered my progress this season. I hope to get back to my best soon," he said.

Humble Lions made national headlines on opening day of the Digicel Premier League when they gave Tivoli Gardens a scare before the defending champs won 3-2. Mighty scored the first goal of the new season, after three minutes, but Tivoli rallied for the win.
