Promoters of South Beach - City Limits - promised a premium party at its launch, which was held in the VIP lounge of Escape 24/7 in New Kingston last Friday night.

The launch began late, almost two hours after the scheduled 6 p.m. start. Prior to beginning, the promoters were still busy doing their final preparations.

Nonetheless, when it began, Phillipe Edwards, a member of Privy Events that is hosting the party, promised that Sugarman's Beach in Portmore would be transformed to look like South Beach in Miami. And, he wants to make the event accessible to everyone, despite the economic restrictions.

"We want to keep it premium but we want to be affordable with it," Edwards told those in attendance.

two categories

At the party, which will be held on December 19, he said there would be two categories. The general access, which will cost $1,500 pre-sold and $2,000 at the gate, will be mixed-drinks inclusive. The liquor will be provided by trendy bar spots like Cuddy'z, Escape 24/7 and Rib Kage.

The all-access section will be elevated six feet above the rest of the venue. There, the patrons will have access to gourmet foods and liquor. In addition, there will be clubs and lounges such as Club Malibu, The Mansion, and Privy Lounge. The all-access tickets will be available at a cost of $3,000 pre-sold and $3,500 at the gate.

This will be the first South Beach party at Sugarman's Beach. Previous parties were held at Sandy Bay Beach House.

"We moved from Sandy Bay Beach House because the venue was at capacity and the parking was not ideal," Edwards said.
