Sheldon Davis' bright face turned pale when he was fined $100,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for beating a woman. The accused man from a Corporate Area address pleaded guilty to assault at occasioning bodily harm. Allegations are that the complainant was punched several times in the face, across the body and slammed into a nearby wall. The complainant told the court that she just knew Davis as a person from the community. When the court asked the accused man to give his side of the story, he said that after having dinner on Saturday, he went outside when the complainant started arguing with him and her saliva went into his face. The court then sentenced Davis to pay $100,000 or spend six months in prison for his actions. The accused man, who was stunned by the sentence, was only capable of repeating "your honour" when he was asked if he had the money to pay. Davis' mother, who was present, was given one month to pay the money. |
