An illegal firearm containing ammunition was found at Eureka Road, Cross Roads, Kingston 5 on Monday and handed over to the police.

Information received by the CCN is that about 5 a.m., a motorist travelling along Eureka Road saw the weapon on the road and stopped his vehicle over it, concealing it. He then called the police 119 emergency number.

Shortly after, a police patrol passing by observed the vehicle blocking the roadway and stopped to investigate. The officers were shown the weapon under the vehicle, which when retrieved, was a .38 revolver containing six rounds of ammunition. It was subsequently handed over to the lawmen.
