Clean clash for Sting

Sky Juice

Sting patrons will be getting a very clean treat this year courtesy of selectors Sky Juice and Tony Matterhorn who will face off in a sound clash.

The show's promoter, Isaiah Laing said he decided to use the two selectors, because he believes they will be able to handle a clash better. Hence, it will be cleaner.

"It was only fitting to bring what really started clash to the package. They are mature enough to handle a situation like that and they won't use curse words," Laing said.

And, that is part of the reason he and Sky Juice entertained the idea of a clash.

"It a go clean. No indecent language. A just who play the better song. I am a very decent selector. I don't curse bad words on stage," Sky Juice told THE STAR.

"I don't really do the clash thing but this seem like a decent one. Matterhorn is a decent youth. Is a youth weh mi respect. Maybe if it was somebody weh I know love to curse, I wouldn't do it."

Tony Matterhorn was also pleased with the idea of the clash, which he described as a 'fun ting'.

"We just a go play some music fi show dem seh yuh can clash and it nuh haffi get dirty. A me and Sky Juice so we a go keep it clean," he told THE STAR.

Sky Juice added that he believes a clash between selectors is quite appropriate at Sting because both of them have many fans that would like to see them on the show.

According to Laing, the selectors' face-off will only add value to the package. He said it will take place during one of the band changes to keep the patrons entertained. Each selector will be allowed to play five songs and two dubplates. After that, the crowd will decide the winner. All of this, he said, will take place between 10 and 15 minutes.

"It will be short and spicy," he told THE STAR.

And, there will also be a drumming clash between Bongo Herman and Mama Kaffe from Africa.

Laing said Mama Kaffe came to his office asking to be part of the show. However, he said, he offered her the opportunity to perform on the show if she was willing to face off with Bongo Herman.

This, Laing said, will certainly be entertaining.
