Man escapes police custody

The Kingston Central police accosted a man in downtown Kingston last week Tuesday after he escaped police custody at the Corporate Area Traffic Court earlier this month.

The man, Wesley Jones from Kingston, has been charged with escaping custody.

Police alleged that Jones indicated that he was not going back to jail when they found him. The police pursued him and he was later caught.

Allegations are that Jones was brought to the Traffic Court on December 14 on a charge of driving while disqualified as his licence had been suspended by the court.

arrested and charged

It is alleged that police stopped Jones during a routine spot check. It was discovered he was driving with a suspended licence. He was arrested and charged.

While in the courtroom, it is alleged that Jones slipped the officers on duty and exited the compound.

On December 22, police spotted Jones at South Parade and he was again apprehended. Jones was yesterday sentenced to three months in prison in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for escaping custody.
