A mother accused of turning a blind eye to the fact that her son brought a 13-year-old girl into their home to live with him is now in trouble with the law. The 47-year-old mother has been charged with encouraging carnal abuse. Reports are that on December 11, the suspect invited the teenager to his home where he lives with his mother and other relatives. It is reported that they took her in and cared for her, and that they knew that she was sleeping in the same room as the suspect. It is alleged that the suspect had sex with the teen on two occasions. Further allegations are that the teenager's family reported her missing to the police and her picture was shared through the electronic media. It is alleged that the accused saw the teen's picture, ironed her uniform and sent her home. The teen was taken to the police by her guardians and the accused was taken into custody. The police, however, were unable to find her son. When the matter was mentioned in court, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the accused to send a message to her son and tell him that if he did not hand in himself, she would not be released. The accused was remanded until January 4. Her fingerprints were taken. |
