Family life back on track - QQ |

![]() File -QQ (left) and father GQ. Custody battle laid to rest Many will recall the custody battle surrounding 15-year-old artiste QQ being played out in the media. But recently, QQ openly spoke about life at home as he says, "things are great at home now. (Tuesday was) daddy's birthday, so we are all here just chilling. Family is good now and both my mom and dad have a great relationship." He continued: "At the time when I was no longer living with my father and went somewhere else, I was the one who asked to be moved, because of the court case and the attention started to affect me, so I asked to let me live elsewhere; but I've always been in the care of my father." Back in 2007, a Family Court judge awarded QQ's parents joint custody of the child star, but said they would have to attend counselling. When the counselling is complete, the parents would return to court for the judge to make an assessment and determine which parent QQ should live with. At the court sitting, it was also determined that his father, GQ will continue to manage QQ's career. QQ was placed in the care and protection of the State following complaints that he was facing emotional abuse from a close relative. Now that things have settled down, the fourth form student at the Calabar High School plans to have music and education as his two main focuses. "I will always be in music but education can never be enough, so I have plans to go to college and after, focus on music but also be an entrepreneur ... As far as a debut album goes, I don't wanna say anytime soon because I have been saying that for three years now, (laughing), but people can definitely look out for a lot more hot tracks and concerts like the upcoming Sean Kingston concert." Focussed on R&B, dance songs Where music is concerned, QQ, whose correct name is Kareem Dawkins, said R&B is where his heart is at these days. "I was always doing Dancehall, but after I did an R&B track called Everything Has Changed, and after it was released, it did very well across the Caribbean and in Canada, so my friends were saying I should continue doing R&B and some different styles of music because the sound really fits me; so that and more dancing songs will be my main focus," said QQ. QQ says his next single is a DJ Bambino production called Wine Your Waist and "that will be a mixture of be Hip Hop and Dancehall. It's going to be a really hot track." That's not the only "hot" thing QQ has in store for his fans. He says the upcoming 'Coke Zero Presents: Sean Kingston In Concert' to be staged at the LIME Golf Academy next week Saturday night, will be a treat for fans. "People are used to seeing one side of QQ, and I want to show all the sides and talents of QQ. I plan to give a great performance and leave the venue with a buzz; something that was off the hook." |
