Spanner Banner - Contributed Stage name: Spanner Banner Real name: Joseph Anthony Bonner Birthdate: February 6 School attended: Rock Hall All-age Why did you get into the music business? Music was born in me. From an early age I realised that I could sing, so I followed my older brother Pliers' footsteps and ventured into the music business. It's a great way to express one's self and earn a living. Major songs: Life Goes On, You Gotta Be, Chill, Michelle, Rolling Stones and Tease Me. What do you like the most about the music? Stage shows - I like to perform with a live band in front of my fans; it's a thrilling feeling. What do you dislike about it? Badmind - Too much of it is in the music biz. What do you think Jamaica's biggest problem is? Badmind with capital letters. If more people would drop the old dirty crab inna barrel mentality of hating and fighting down other people who are trying to make it in life, we would have a better country. We need to let go the negative vibes and unite, and become a better country and a better people. What have you been up to lately? Promoting my album I'm A Winner. I have also been busy doing a lot of studio work in preparation for my next album. When I am not in the studios, I am on the road promoting my music and doing shows both locally and abroad. Earlier this year I did a US west coast tour. Where do you see yourself in the next five years? Helping the less fortunate, I really want to be able to make a difference in the lives of the people who are living below the poverty line. I also want to help some talented youths get a break in the music business. |
