Clearly a different breed |
|||||
It seems thieves have lost all sense of regard for our children. A lead story in the Wednesday STAR brought news that a primary school in St Elizabeth had been robbed a total of nine times since last year. The hoodlums stole electronic equipment, as well as cash and food. It is a sad day in our country when our young minds are exposed to theft and robbery so early and when their school, which is supposed to be a safe haven, has become the scene of a crime. Criminals who are so heartless as to rob an educational institution, and one for children at that, are clearly a different breed as they have obviously lost all sense of consciousness and decency. The school or its authorities need to find a way to stop this trend, whether it be through hiring guards or through installing security cameras. Since the thieves are so clearly attached to this school, it should not be that hard to catch them, once the right mechanisms are in place. The police also have a role to play as they should step up their patrols in and around the community where the school is located. We sincerely hope that these crooks are caught before the new school term is destroyed because of their cruel and evil ways. |
