A 34-year-old man is now in trouble after it was recently revealed that he has been involved in a relationship with a 16-year-old girl. This revelation, the court was told, was made during a public fight involving the two. The accused man is Teddy Taylor, and he has been charged with carnal abuse and assault. The court was told that on the day in question, Taylor and the teenager were involved in a brawl in their community. It is alleged that during the fight, the teenager was assaulted by Taylor. The police were notified of the disagreement and when they arrived at the scene, they were informed that the two were lovers. Taylor, who is reportedly employed as a security guard at a school was remanded when the case was mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, as Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said he should not be allowed to work at a school where young girls attend. Taylor's lawyer told the court that his client suffered from a mental condition, but RM Pusey questioned how this could be so as he was allowed to carry arms on his job. The lawyer also said the teenager had asked for money, was not given and that this had started the argument. He said Taylor did not assault her, but was merely trying to restrain her. Taylor was denied bail and is to undergo psychiatric treatment before returning to court on February 8. |
