Time to take care of our women |
|||||
Let us establish one point and make that clear from the get-go, there is absolutely and positively nothing cool, manly and exemplary, in a good light, about thrashing a woman. It still remains as unacceptable as jerk pork on the plate of a true Rastafarian. In case you are wondering where all this is coming from, well, the recent Kim Hamilton, now KYM, formerly Gaza Kim, situation brought back the need to re-emphasise this point. But, even outside of that situation, there are countless stories in THE STAR that testify to the continuation of the spineless assault. Whether it is a robbery gone wrong, a relationship gone sour or, as we have published in the past, a woman calling her spouse Shebada, you can almost be sure that at least one such article will appear in the paper each week which may be an indication that the practice has become commonplace. Or, has it always been like that? It is hard to understand what goes through a man's mind when he hands down a fine beating to a woman, his very spouse even. How do you move forward in the relationship from that point? How do you justify your actions, sensibly, to a sane person or your children for that matter, given that your vile actions have not yet scarred them into believing that your crudeness is wholly social behaviour? Women are wonderfully and beautifully made and should be treated as such. "Tek care a de ooman dem!" have you not learnt anything from Anthony B's song? |
