Three killed, two shot in St James |

WESTERN BUREAU: St James recorded yet another bloody weekend, as three persons were murdered and two others, including a young woman, were shot and hospitalised. Dead are Fredrick Dixon, alias 'Briggie', 40-year-old labourer of Long Bay; Dwayne Hyatt, otherwise called 'Garth', 26, unemployed of Tank Road, Cambridge, and Kevin Williams, a 29-year-old labourer of Sunderland, all in St James. explosions Corporal Eulette Lewis-Green, the Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer for St James, reported that at about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, residents in the usually quiet residential community of Brandon Hill heard explosions and summoned the police. On their arrival, they found Dixon suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. Forty minutes later, Hyatt was among several persons attending a party along Tank Road in Cambridge when a car drove up. Men alighted from the car and opened fire, hitting Hyatt and a 24-year-old man. They were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where Hyatt was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in stable condition. At 8:45 p.m. a 19-year-old woman residing at Pitfour Capture Land was on her way to the shop when she was attacked by a group of men who shot her several times. She has been admitted in serious condition. At 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, a 34-year-old farmer was driving along Ducketts Road in Cambridge when he came up on objects blocking the road. While driving through the blockage, men fired shots hitting him in the upper body and on his right arm. In the third incident, about 3:30 a.m. yesterday, Williams was at a party in neighbouring Potosie district when explosions was heard. Minutes later, he was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at hospital. |
