A St Catherine man who is charged with the murder of a businesswoman, was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Durrant Morris, a 40-year-old taxi driver of Spanish Town, is charged with the death of Chantel Reid, 33, from Ensom Acres in the parish. Detective Constable Debbie Bailey of the Spanish Town Police Station, outlined that between January 13 and 14 this year, there was a disagreement between the accused and Reid. Morris, the court heard, got angry and a shoestring was used to strangle Reid. She said the accused left the area and was caught in St Elizabeth, about a week later. He was subsequently charged with murder. When he appeared before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green, he was not represented. The court was informed that the post-mortem certificate is still outstanding. |
