Four still in custody after gun find |

|
Four of 11 persons who were on Thursday taken into custody in connection with a massive gun find on Munster Road, are still in custody. The others have been released. The police say they have so far recorded 14 statements. Those in custody include the sergeant of police who was implicated, the owner of the house in which the guns were found and two groundsmen employed to the Elletson Road complex which houses the Police Armoury and Stores. Over $787,000 was seized from the premises on Munster Road where the seizure took place and at the business place of the owner of the house. Nineteen firearms and approximately 10,600 rounds of assorted ammunition, mainly 9 mm rounds were seized. All firearms seized have been handed over to the Forensic Laboratory for testing. Members of staff of the Police Armoury and Stores have all been interviewed by investigators of the Anti-Corruption Branch and have also done lie detector tests. Reports are that police on a routine patrol on Munster Road saw a group of people acting strangely. They searched a premises and the guns and ammunition were found. More rounds were found on a premises along Mountain View Avenue alleged to be the business place of the owner of the house on Munster Road. While even more rounds were found at various locations in the St Andrew South and the St Andrew North police divisions. |
