Products being recalled because of defect The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) is warning mothers who own Graco baby strollers to be very alert as the manufacturers of this product have issued a recall of some of their models. The CAC is asking mothers to check the manufacture date of their stroller or to either go online or contact them to see if their product is on the list of recalled items. The company, Graco Children Products Incorporated, issued a recall in late January after receiving reports that five children had their fingertips severed after they were caught in the hinges of the product. Another two children received cuts. According to a story from the Associated Press, the company is recalling 1.5 million strollers and the Consumer Product Safety Commission has said the strollers pose an amputation and laceration hazard. The strollers that are being recalled bear manufacture dates of October 2004 to Februray 2008. This date, can be found at the back of the stroller, just above the back wheels. Communication Officer at the CAC, Dorothy Campbell said this brand was very popular among Jamaican mothers and therefore local mothers were being urged to make checks about their stroller. She said this brand was one of the more reliable brands and was very common among Jamaican mothers who shop for baby items overseas, as most popular department stores likes Walmart, Target, Sears, Toys R Us and Babies R Us, stock this brand. She said concerned mothers who may own the product should contact the CAC for more information. |
