Eagles still rule skittles roost |

Orville Clarke, Portmore Star Writer Unbeaten Eagles continued on their merry ways in the Pattex Cup skittles competition last Sunday when clipped Dragon 6-5 in an away match at Giltress Street in Rollington Town, east Kingston. Eagles thus pushed their tally to 52 points - 12 clear of closest rivals Eastern All-Stars who defeated Mystix 7-4 at the same venue on Sunday. In another Division-One match, Rowe's Strikers scored a hard-fought 6-5 win over Starliner at House of Peace, while home team House of Peace beat Mercury in a Division-Two clash at the same venue. Portmore-based teams Meadowvale and The Dip drew byes for the last round, but both will be in action tomorrow. In fact, The Dip will host Division-Two leaders Mister C in a home match in Gregory Park, where Eastern All-Stars will also face Dragon in a Division-One encounter. Meadowvale, while not enjoying the best of seasons, journey to Hughenden Plaza tomorrow where they oppose Starliner. And in the second match at the venue, home team Eagles face off with Rowe's Strikers in the feature match. The other set of matches scheduled for tomorrow are Olympic Strikers vs House Of Peace at Waltham and Waltham Strikers vs Willies in the second match. All matches start at 1 p.m. Last Sunday, Mister C beat Willies 7-4 at Olympic Gardens and Olympic Strikers drubbed Waltham 8-3. Mister C lead Division Two with 48 poits, 19 clear of Olympic Strikers in second. Meanwhile, the top scorers in the Henkel-sponsored Pattex Cup so far this season are N. Elletson of Mercury with 5,640, followed by Rudolph 'Niah' Mullings (Eagles) 4,940, Delroy Hall (Waltham) 4,780, Clinton 'Fly Up' Thompson (Eagles) 4,650 and David Doyley Mr C, 4,510. Meanwhile, entries for the 2010 Sista singles championship close on Thursday, February 11. |
