Residents of Lionel Town, Clarendon, have denied the police version of a story about the killing of Leroy 'Blacka' Hibbert, 40, of Alley Downer district in the parish on Wednesday. Police said about 6:10 a.m. during an operation in the area, Hibbert emerged from a house and fired at the police and he was shot. A Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing two 9mm cartridges was taken from him. He died at the Lionel Town Hospital. But residents, who demonstrated in front the Lionel Town Police Station, said Hibbert was shot in cold blood. Several residents who witnessed the incident are calling for justice, as they said Hibbert did not have a firearm but was just taken from the house and killed. The Bureau of Special Investigations is probing the
incident. |
