MAGNUM KINGS AND QUEENS OF DANCEHALL: KINGSTON TOP 10

Now thatyou have seen thefive auditions on TVJ, there are only four more spaces left to be filled and contestants from Kingston are now vying for those spots. Choose your favourite and remember, the only way they can go through is if you vote.

AKA: Danjah Delava

Hometown: Tavares Gardens, Kingston

Song: Lava Run Out

Danjah Delava entered Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall because she watched the competition for two years and believes she has what it takes, and would not let the third season pass without getting her chance. At the age of eight, she started rapping at Dupont All-Age School and at 12 started writing, singjaying and deejaying.She says: "Jamaica haffi know mi ... mi have extraordinary talent. It's my dream, my aim, my work."

AKA: Attitude

Hometown: Wakefield, Trelawny

Song: Attitude

Attitude was motivated by friends and family who believe in her talent. "I fell in love with the music and felt that the competition is a good way to get exposure," she said.

At an early age, Attitude started singing for the Refuge Temple Pentecostal Choir in Bounty Hall, Trelawny, and continuedin high school. If she wins she wants to continue her music and let people know that her talent isrich, and she is willing to work hard.

AKA: Trendy

Hometown: Old Braeton, St Catherine

Song: A Wha Do You

Trendy says she has a passion for music and wants Jamaica and the world to know about her. The dancehall artiste is very outspoken and believes her music speaks about everyday life and social issues that affect people. She has been singing for three years, and has learnt a lot about the music in that time.

"I have the music, the lyrics, the style and the attitude that I think Jamaica wants to see. I think the music business needs somebody like Trendy," she said.Trendy is a fan of D'Angel and says she and the artiste are similar. She says, like D'Angel, she wants her music to reach out to young people.

AKA: T Blue

Hometown: Kingston

Song: Who I Be

This DJ is dying for the exposure to 'buss' big on the music scene. She is confident of her talent but is not willing to sell herself short to getto thetop. She exclaimed: "A whole heap a people want u lie down fi 'buss'. Magnum a mek people see you and show seh yuh nuh haffi sacrifice yuh morals."

T Blue has been in the business for a while and proclaims a strong love for the art form. She maintains that it's not just about the million-dollar top prize, asfans are more valuable. She wants to use the power of winning to influence many people and thinks that's the biggest prize of all. The mother of two sons says she wants to make their life better and Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall is the best opportunity to do it.

AKA: Chrissy D Diva

Hometown: Seaview Gardens, St Andrew

Song: Hate and Jealousy

Chrissy D Diva entered the competition to expose her talent to Jamaica. She claims it's not for the money as she wants to make it big and prove to Jamaica that she is talented. Chrissy has been singing since her days at the Seaview Garden Seventh Day Adventist Church, at age seven. She now believes it is time for her to break out. A fan of Jimmy Cliff, Chrissy says, like him, her music comes from the heart and she hopes she can win the hearts of Jamaicans with it.

AKA: Allostar

Hometown: Ebony Vale, St Catherine

Song: Take You Out Tonight

Allostar has been singing for more than 17 years - since his church days at the United Pentecostal Tabernacle on Wildman Street. He has a singing heritage as most of his uncles are gospel singers. Allostar says reggae is his calling and he wants to initiate change in the way the country is going, and contribute to the building of a better society.

"Most of our young people have nowhere to turn. We have very few opportunities, that's why we turn to music," he says. A fan of Beenie Man, Allostar says he is persistent and sees himself as one of the messengers of the music.

AKA: DJ Zion-I

Hometown: Constitution Hill, St Andrew

Song: Chiny Girl

This singer says his style is a combination of the best artistes in the business as he has taken samples from all of them and moulded it into one. He would like to see his talent recognised all over the world, and is encouraged by the sentiments of people from his community who want to see him succeed. A past student of Cumberland High School, Zion-I performed at concerts and school barbecues in an effort to hone his talent. He is confident of getting his big break and says he has what it takes. "Most of all mi serious bout it, mi a rehearse and write everyday, as this a one competition mi caan miss," he said.

AKA: Press Fyah

Hometown: Buff Bay, Portland

Song: Stepping For My Goals

Press Fyah says music is his life and it comes to him naturally. The firefighter by occupation says his music is cultural and seeks to teach people. "You have to be creative and you, as the artiste have to deliver. Because conscious artistes are not delivering, slack artistes atake over. It is up to us to set the trend," he said.

Fyah would like to use any success from the competition to further his education and work to make life better for his four-year-old son.

AKA: Juggla

Hometown: Bog Walk, St Catherine

Song: My Wish

Juggla sayshis wish isto be a big artiste and hopes that Jamaica will give him the opportunity to make it to the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall live shows. The humorous deejay started writing his own lyrics from Grade Nine at Magrath High School in Linstead.He says he is a narrative artiste with catchy melodies that addresses topics which people might not hear everyday. Juggla says the fun side of the music is missing and it is easier to express his fun side and his character, and that makes him a good entertainer. If he wins Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, he wants to push his career to the top and wants people to know him as Jamaica's best dancehall artiste.

AKA: Gibraltar

Hometown: McCooks Pen, St Catherine

Song: How The Country A Run So

At the Kingston auditions, Miss Kitty had a special eye for this tall talent and Gibraltar has an eye out for the Magnum crown. A past student of Old Harbour High School, he says he has been deejayng since he was eight years old and wrote his first song in Grade Three. If he gets through, Gibraltar wants to become one of the best artistes in Jamaica and an ambassador of Jamaican culture.
