When will the attacks on our children stop?

One of the main stories in Tuesday's Star was about a birthday party that was invaded by gunmen in Montego Bay, St James, recently.

This story is quite shocking as it shows that no event or location is sacred in the eyes of criminals.

According to the story, the gunmen invaded the party which was being held in Norwood, St James, and opened fire. Four persons were injured, including a 16-year-old.

It is believed that the incident was gang-related and stemmed from a feud between warring factions, which came to a head after the recent death of one man from the community.

It is indeed sad to note that innocent children have been caught up in this feud and even scarier to realise that many children could have been hurt and possibly killed in this senseless attack. We have come to hear of many cases where 'dances' have been shot up, however, it is indeed shocking to note that even events being held for children are now being targeted.

We sincerely hope that the hoodlums responsible for this attack are found and brought to justice and that the children, who are no doubt traumatised, will be able to overcome this horrible attack.
