Eltham, Wolmer's, N'Manley make positive starts

Eltham remained on course to cop their sixth straight win in the ISSA/Grace Shield Premier League when they along with Wolmer's and Norman Manley High all claimed first innings in their drawn two-day semi-final opening-round games yesterday.

In Section One, Eltham, after an initial scare, got the better of St Catherine, Norman Manley showed their class against 'A' League champions, Meadowbrook, while in Section Two Wolmer's were too good for Tarrant.

At Eltham, the home team after being bowled out for 114 on the first day recovered to dismiss St Catherine for 49.

Leading the way for Eltham was captain, off-spinner Kieno-Paul Sailsman, who pocketed 5-28, and Joseph Dennie who took 3-11.

Eltham, batting a second time, reached 116-6 when umpires stopped play at 5 p.m. Osani Ricketts, 51, and Maurice Walker, 37, topscored for Eltham in their second innings against off-spinner Akieno Gayke, 3-32.

Left-arm spinner, Coi Thompson, 8-23, had earlier reduced Eltham to their low first innings score.

At Elletson Road, Wolmer's resumed the day on 171-3 in search of Tarrant's 243 and after achieving their target, were bowled out 320.

Che-Andre Gordon 78, Charles Tufton 41 and Jordaine Hunter 42 topscored for Wolmer's against off-spinners Odane McKenzie, 5-94, and Ryan Edwards, 3-34.

Batting a second time Tarrant closed at 161-8.

At Maxfield Park, Norman Manley first made 304-6 declared, and Meadowbrook, after resuming the day on 14-1, were dismissed for 215.

John Bucknor, 4-38, led the way for Norman Manley while Damian Hall, 51, Adrian Smith, 41, got most runs for Meadowbrook.

Norman Manley, batting a second time, reached 39-3.
