Two more illegal guns off the streets

A 34-year-old man was shot and injured during a confrontation with police at Daffodil Avenue, Kingston 13, in one of two incidents where officers from Hunts Bay seized illegal firearms in the area yesterday; a 16-year-old male was arrested at Bertram Avenue for the other gun.

Their names are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports are that about 11:30 a.m., lawmen were patrolling Daffodil Avenue when men opened gunfire at them. The officers returned the fire and one of the gunmen was hit. He was found with a .38 revolver with three .38 cartridges.

The weapon was confiscated and the injured man taken to the hospital where he has been admitted under police guard.

In the second incident which occurred about 9:15 p.m., police saw the youth behaving suspiciously in the Bertram Avenue community. He was accosted and searched and a 9mm pistol and a magazine containing five 9mm cartridges found in his possession.
