WESTERN BUREAU: A man accused of stealing a woman's handbag will know his fate when he returns to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court next month. Romi Fray, 20, from Mount Salem, St James, pleaded not guilty to larceny from the person. However, he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. Resident Magistrate Sandra Wong-Small remanded Fray until April 12, at which time he is to return to court for sentencing. A social enquiry report was ordered for Fray and his fingerprints were ordered taken. Allegations are that on March 2, the complainant, Nadine Williams, was in the Charles Gordon Market talking to a vendor, when Fray approached, grabbed her handbag and ran. Fray was held by a policeman moments later, and Williams identified the bag and its contents as hers. Fray was subsequently arrested and charged. |
