Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer Greetings flowed freely for businessman Lester 'Ken' Crooks, as he celebrated his birthday in fine style on Wednes-day with friends and well-wishers on the roof of the Wildflower Lounge at Bayside. At 10:50 p.m., the music was turned down for member of parliament for South East St Elizabeth, Franklyn Witter, to pray. It was a packed house and the tributes flowed as much as the drinks. "He (Crooks) has contributed to the development of Portmore and that is why so many turn out for the special moment," MP Colin Fagan said in his tribute to the birthbay boy, promising that his gift will be to help secure a major sporting facility in Portmore. success story Former Portmore mayor and long-time friend George Lee said Crooks is a success story for Portmore. " I am sorry the mayor is not here, they must remember that sports is a thing that move youths socially," Lee said. Charles Simpson, president of the Portmore Cricket League, said he was lost for words, but thank all for coming. He, however, endorsed Crooks as the person whose input has helped to sustain the league. The birthday boy said has enjoyed his life tremendously and that Portmore is indeed part of his existence. "It is all about my customers as they are the ones that build the business. So, it's a good life and thanks," Crooks told the audience. He took time out to let his staff know that the customers come first in any business and must be respected. Wildflower Disco duly entertained with a steady diet of music which the selectors fed to the audience. |
