Heineken looters

It is amazing how 'tief' people are. Were we the only ones who thought so after seeing the drama on TV and in the papers last week after that accident in St Catherine, which left one man dead, another hospitalised and countless Heineken bottles all over the place?

People went crazy, even in full view of the media cameras, knowing recordings would have been televised nationally. That was obviously no concern of theirs, however, as even in full view of the police, looters were still trying to get 'theirs'. Of course many paid the price for the drink, not in cash and coins, but in baton blows as one policeman was seen administering generously.

Seriously though, the strange thing is that, from the photos and the videos, it seemed as if most who tried to steal crates of the drink, ran away empty-handed as everything fell in their mad dash to escape the baton blows. However, they still attempted the task. It was almost certain that if one attempt was not successful a second would be attempted. Why? Kleptomania, maybe?

Maybe people loot for the criminal thrill, or because in our little land it is seen as the right thing to do in cases where stuff that does not belong to you falls from a truck, or is locked in a store during a hurricane. Is that it?

Well, let the record be set straight for whoever was under this warped impression, looting is wrong.
