Main rivals and why: Odean Skeen of Wolmer's and Delano Williams in both sprints, because of their performances this year. Skeen ran 10.4 at the Carifta trials, even though it was wind-assisted, and Williams was third in the 200m last year so he is expected to be better.

Last year's performance: Won the sprint double, running 10.44 in the 100m and 21.53 in the 200m.

Expectations: To defend my sprint double regardless of the times and end the Championships injury-free.

Note: Based on his performances last year, not only at Champs, but at the Carifta Games, where he took the sprint double in 10.41 and closed out with a new meet record of 20.97 in the 200 metres. Despite cramps ruling him out of Carifta Games trials, Murphy has shown that even short of being 100 per cent fit, he should retain his titles.

PB: 52.68 (400m), 2:11.06 (800m)

Main rivals and why: Everybody in the race will have a chance to win, but I will keep my eyes especially on the St Jago and Manchester girls.

Last Year's Performance: She won both the 400m in 52.68 and 800m in 2:13.45, and ran an incredible 51.5 anchor leg split to help Holmwood to the 4x400m title.

Expectations: To defend my titles in personal best times.

Note: All eyes will be on Gordon this year, especially after the mark of 52.68 in the Class two 400m and her 51.5 anchor leg 4x400m split she left Champs with last year. She, however, has not been at her best this season after a minor surgery. However, based on past performance, she has proven that even at less than 100 per cent, she will be very difficult to beat. Gordon is the Carifta Games Under-17 800m champion.
