Dear Pastor, I am a 20-year-old student living in the USA. Last year December, I went to visit my family in Jamaica and also went to visit my old high school, where I met my current boyfriend. At the time we met, I had no interest in pursuing a relationship as I was currently seeing someone. But, in March of this year, I broke up with my ex-boyfriend. About a month later, I came into contact with this other guy and we decided to start a relationship. In October, I went home and spent about a month in Jamaica, and during that time we got to know each other better. So far, he is great, but the problem is me. I had my heart broken many times and I am afraid to trust this guy. I trust my instincts and they are always right. I am so into this guy that I may be blinded by my feelings. I don't know whether to trust him and see where it goes, or follow my heart and end it. S.K., N.J., USA Dear S.K., You seem confused. You are easy to fall in and out of love. You are very young and you have to be very careful that you don't move from one man to the next. If you have doubts about your relationship and you need help in determining which way to go, I suggest that you make an appointment to see a family counsellor. But please, don't allow yourself to be used by these guys. Pastor |
