Hubert Scott was given 10 days plus fines totalling $12,000 to think over why he was driving a motor vehicle without a driver's licence.

Scott was caught by the police on March 6, driving a motor car along Westport Boulevard in Portmore. Checks made revealed that he was not the owner of a driver's licence.

When he appeared before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday he pleaded guilty and was fined $10,000 or three months for no driver's licence. The court also imposed a fine of $2,000 or 10 days plus an additional 10 days' imprisonment.

"You are also disqualified from getting a driver's licence for 12 months," Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told Scott.

The RM remarked that it was a serious offence for persons to be driving away motor vehicle knowing very well, they have no driver's licence.
