WOMEN BRAWL ENDS IN DEATH

A dispute between two females at Shaw Castle district, St James, on Saturday night, has left 20-year-old Sherry-Kay Cunningham of Shaw Castle dead. Reports said about 7:30 p.m., the two were in a fight when a knife was used to stab Sherry-Kay.She was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she died. The other woman has since fled. The Spring Mount police are investigating.

FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE

Fire of unknown origin destroyed a farmer's two-bedroom house at Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich Town, in Kingston 13, on Saturday. Reports are that about 6:30 p.m., fire was seen coming from the dwelling and the fire brigade contacted. Firefighters from the Trench Town and York Park Fire Departments responded and extinguished the blaze. Loss is estimated at $1 million. The house was not insured.

MAN KILLED, CHILD INJURED

Basil Nelson, 50, of Temple Hall, St. Andrew, was shot dead and a 12-year-old injured at the intersection of Spanish Town Road and Rose Lane, Kingston 14, on Saturday night. Police said about 8:30 p.m., the two were at the intersection when explosions were heard.It was later discovered that they had been shot. Both were taken to hospital where Nelson was pronounced dead and the child admitted in serious condition. The Denham Town police are investigating.

COPS PROBE KILLING

Detectives from the Half-Way Tree CIB are probing the death of an unidentified man, believed to be in the mid-20s, at Manley Avenue, August Town, St. Andrew, yesterday. The body is of dark complexion, medium build and was clad in dark-coloured shorts and brown T-shirt. Police said about 5:30 a.m., residents heard explosions and alerted the police.Lawmen arrived to find the body with gunshots.It was removed to the morgue.
