Tanya's Tarantula Records

With the limitations of other avenues in recording her music, Tanya Stephens started her own label Tarantula Records.

In 2004, Stephens along with her business partner Andrew Henton started Tarantula Records.

She said it was started because of "the limitations of other avenues. We tek too long to come outside the box. I have a lot of limits when I work with other people. Traditional producers have precepts about how music should be done."

Stephens added, "when I wanted harmonies on a song, somebody once told me that I am trying to make the song sound too pretty."

She says there is no set physical location for the label. Instead, Henton makes the beats out of his home and she records at hers.

On the label, she did albums like Gangsta Blues, Rebelution and Infallible.

"We are mostly a production company 'cause we don't do distribution ourselves. We have been working on projects with other artistes but nothing has come out as yet," Stephens told THE WEEKEND STAR.
