Oba Simba releases video for latest single |
|||||
Oba Simba - Contributed Roarrr Productions recording artiste Oba Simba recently released the video for his latest single, Shape Ah Di Century. The video, directed by Reno Rodriguez and Anjuval, features Oba Simba playing the role of a conductor on a bus where he has his pick of voluptuous females, eyeing and flirting with each as the bus travels its regular route through the Corporate Area. There is also a bit of comedy involved as Oba Simba blocks the attempt of a man trying to get on the 'girl mobile' and who races after the bus on a bicycle. "We didn't want the video to be too sexy, with young girls in short skirts and too much sexuality. We wanted to show that regular Jamaican women are sexy in their own ways, we are celebrating the beauty of the female figure," Oba Simba explained. The video has been in regular rotation at local stations since it made its debut two weeks ago. The single Shape Ah Di Century is a feel-good romantic ballad that is a throwback to the gentler, kinder days of reggae music with sweet reggae harmonies and a gorgeous song arrangement that pushes the genre's soulful horizons. The song has been getting excellent airplay on local radio stations. "It's a special song that any reggae lover can rock to and is written in a way that will not offend even as I speak about the assets and attributes of a woman," he said laughing. "There is another way to express love for a woman's assets, an intelligent and more tasteful way." He has now established his own production company Roarrr Productions, and is striving to make his mark as a producer and a songwriter. He released the Lacadema Riddim which enjoyed favourable rotation on FM radio with songs such as Beat It by Lutan Fyah. He has also co-written tracks on Sharon Tucker's upcoming album, one of which is Give A Little Love which peaked at No. 2 on the CMV E Strip charts in 2010. "I am just trying to make good music to change the world," Oba Simba said. |
